We the undersigned, petition The Prime Minister and Andrew Lansley (Secretary of state for health) to review the current FP92A criteria. We the undersigned feel that the current medical exemption cerificate is discriminating towards Transplant patients. Currently the NHS will provide "Life preserving" drugs FREE OF CHARGE to Cancer patients, and Diabetics etc. Transplant recipients ALSO require complex medications which ARE LIFE PRESERVING to prevent and control organ rejection. These drug regimes are life preserving and a recipient WILL NOT survive without them. We ask that the FP92A criteria is extended to include transplant patients within the UK who are eligable for NHS care so they can get FREE NHS PRESCRIPTIONS. Thank you from us all.

Transplant patients have to take medication for life. The main issues with the decision makers are that they don't understand the implications of transplants because it's not in the news all the time like, with respect, cancer. Transplant patients ARE actually HIGH RISK CANCER BECAUSE OF THE ANTI REJECTION DRUGS! Please support free scripts for transplant patients - kidney failure / general kidney diseases are a silent illness too. While you're about it, please sign up to organ donation. Thank you.
These are necessary life saving prescriptions and should be free of charge as most recipients will have to take time off work for appointments which reduces their incomes even further
My daughter is a transplant patient. The amount of medication she needs to take is staggering. Why does our Government discriminate against transplant patients by making them pay for prescriptions but not others who need medications to keep them alive and healthy? Think on Mr Cameron and Mr Lansley.
It does seem a bit silly not being entitled to free prescriptions. I understand that a transplant is expensive so this can be used as a form of recovering the cost, but I have always worked and paid national insurance. I live on my earnings and don't have the funds to cover this cost, yet I have sufficient earnings to be told I am not on a low income and thus have to pay. Surely this needs to change.
I have had a heart transplant when I was 6 years old, now that I have just finished school, I can't get free prescription which are essential for keeping me well. I can't even find a proper paid job as I am under 21. It's really worrying. Thanks for setting up this petition and good luck to us all
Even with doing pre.payment finding it so hard...hospital appointments to and from let alone keeping roof over heads.....
For life term illnesses it should be free or discounted at least

Matt I totally agree with you as I take 20 tablets a day to survive and keep my wife's kidney from failing. It is unfair and unacceptable that we are not issued with a life long exemption certificate. Maybe the govt. and the NHS would prefer to pay out the very high costs of each dialysis sessions-ie 3 per week. The system is again failing people who need support the most.
