Dear Mayor Page and Councilman Smith,
We, the concerned homeowners of Carolina Park, request that the town place a 4-way stop sign at the intersection of Carolina Park and Darrell Creek Trail. Cars, Trucks and construction vehicles constantly speed at 40-50+mph through the intersection, and don't stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk. There are a lot of children in our growing neighborhood, and we are not comfortable letting our children cross the street. This is a serious safety concern and we would appreciate the town giving this immediate attention.

I have submitted a formal request for a traffic safety audit to the public works department this morning. I am now coordinating with a local journalist to document the current traffic flow during peak hours.

The volume of support has secured us a formal meeting with the traffic engineering department. I am now finalizing the packet of data to present at that hearing.

we need a stop sign at this intersection. I walk and run through here all the time and car are speeding on this road. It is very dangerous. We also have kids (12 & 15) that ride their bikes across this road. It scares me to let them do this alone.
It is justified to have a four way stop sign because of the number of vehicles and pedestrians entering the intersection during a substantial part of the day, The prevailing speed of traffic, the amount of time traffic must wait to enter the intersection, including the availability of safe crossing opportunities, and collision patterns susceptible of correction by stop control. All of these justifications are nationally recognized, "warrants," or guidelines.
This is important for the safety of our children. Many children cross this road at this intersection going to and from neighborhood amenities. We do not need to experience a tragedy with a child to realize the necessity of a 4 way stop. If nothing else, the 4 way stop will decrease speed along this stretch of road.
I try to cross with my baby in the stroller and cars do not stop! Please don't wait until someone gets hurt, or worse!
Such a dangerous intersection. Despite the 35 mph speed limit and pedestrian walkway signs, people continue to fly through there. A matter of time til someone is seriously injured in an accident.
I'm afraid it's an accident waiting to happen.
my house backs up to Darrell Creek and cars fly by way too fast. It's a danger to residents and pets.

Please put a traffic circle at Carolina Park and Darrell Creek Rd. This would be much safer than the current situation and much better for all concerned that a 4 way stop!
