Chesterfield County has a tendency to ignore black history month and it's importance. If you are tired of the lack of recognition sign!

Updates

February 6, 2017

The emails I receive from folks sharing their own experiences in the county are heavy but they keep me moving forward. I have been spending my nights drafting formal requests for the board to review their current stance on this. It is exhausting work but the erasure of our local history is too important to ignore.

February 6, 2017

The momentum behind this effort is genuine and shows that people are finally ready to confront what has been ignored for too long. It is exhausting to fight for this kind of recognition but seeing this response proves that the work is necessary.

Black history month is something that simply cannot be ignored, especially as black history is hardly covered alongside American history in a normal school ciriculum
