When the uprising began Ambassador Ali Aujali appeared on CNN's AC360 and stated he would not call for Gaddafi to step down despite the mass murder that was occurring.  On the contrary Deputy to the UN took a much stronger stance on that same day.  Aujali claims to be with the people but when the Libyan people were dying by the hands of the regime he did not take a clear stance with the people.  He has supported the regime for years and in this same interview claimed that Libyans had freedom of speech which everyone knows isn't true.  The only reason Aujali changed his view and statement on AC360 is because the Libyan community called him by the dozens and told him how insulted they were by his stance.  Moreover he seemed to brush off allegations of torture by justifying it's occurrence in all third world regimes.

Furthermore, since assuming office as NTC's Ambassador to the United States Aujali has done little to nothing to resolve the issue of the Libyan students in the US and Canada.  Many students that were on government scholarships are sitting in limbo trying to find ways to financially support themselves and continue their education.  Aujali has done very little to address these concerns.  He has not made any statements and has provided neither reassurance nor a solution to his constituents.

We respectfully ask the National Transitional Council to replace Aujali with a more qualified representative of both Libya and the February 17 Revolution.  The Libyan people deserve someone that will help the students and address the needs of the Libyan people in the US.
