Aboriginal suicide in youths has become an epidemic and we need to take a stand! Help us make a difference by signing our petition so we can advocate on behalf of our First Nation communities.
Suicide rates are five to seven times higher for First Nations youth than for non-Aboriginal youth.
Our First Nation communities are lacking the necessary health care professionals needed to battle the suicide crisis. In 2016, a rural reserve in Northern Ontario called Attawapiskat declared a state of emergency because of 11 suicide attempts out of their 2000 inhabitants in ONE night with only 4 healthcare workers who are not specialized in mental health training. Our government aided but only provided relief for about a month. WE NEED MORE. We need permanent relief and individuals who are willing to make a difference, this epidemic is going to continue to happen unless we bring some real change.

The silence from government offices continues to be the most significant obstacle in addressing this crisis. I am currently compiling the experiences shared in the comments to ensure these individual stories reach the desk of every relevant health official.

Reaching this level of engagement confirms that the urgency of this crisis is finally being acknowledged by a broader public. This momentum suggests a collective readiness to move beyond temporary relief and toward the permanent changes our communities deserve.

Thinking of the families in Attawapiskat. Its a disgrace that this is even happening in this country.
Too many lives lost already. Ottawa needs to stop ignoring these communities and actually fix things for good.
This is honestly so heartbreaking. These kids deserve so much more than what they are getting right now.
