Abbot Mill Residents In Favor of adding AT&T Cell Antenna to Smokestack
Dear Residents of Abbot Mill,
This Wednesday night July 15th at 7:00pm at Town Hall Meeting Room 201 (55 Main Street Westford MA 01886) there is a Zoning Board of Appeals hearing on Abbot Mill’s application for a Special Permit to allow AT&T to install a cell antenna on our chimney.
This hearing is necessary because the Building Inspector denied AT&T's original application, saying a Special Permit is required. He also said the Board would approve the Permit, but on Friday the town staff issued the a report which essentially recommends denying the application. They do this by adding requirements that will be difficult and expensive to meet.
It has been explained repeatedly that cell reception is weak in Forge Village and Abbot Mill needs this antenna, but the town does not seem to be listening.
We are asking that any Abbot Mill Resident who is able to go to the hearing, do so and let the Board know this is important. It could make all the difference if individuals join in.

The town staff is playing games with our connectivity by burying us in red tape just to keep us from getting basic service. I have been spending my time pushing back against their ridiculous demands and we are not going to let them ignore the reality of our dead zones.

The town staff is trying to bury us with red tape but our momentum makes it clear they cannot ignore our demand for basic cell service. We have reached a point where the Zoning Board can no longer pretend this is just a minor complaint from a few neighbors.

My husband and I are starting a fourth year at Abbot Mill. We are AT&T customers and were forced to get a land line because of no cell coverage in are apartment. Our apartment faces Pleasant Street and when we put our phones near the window we still have no coverage.
I just moved into Abbot Mill a month ago. I have Verizon as my carrier and cell phone service is highly inadequate. Calls routinely drop out in just a few seconds. Very frustrating that this happens in an area in MA noted for its high-tech companies doing business in and around Westford.
I support the addition of an AT&T Cell Antenna to the smokestack at Abbot Mill. I have been a tenant for almost two years and have no cellular reception anywhere around the Mill. I have a contract with AT&T and had to buy an extender just to use my phone in my apartment. Please give AT&T the right to add the cell antenna to the Abbot Mill smokestack.
The cell coverage in this area is spotty at best. Please approve the installation to enable better coverage and facilitate calls from the area- regular calls and 911 calls as well. Thank You. Paul Morris
Apartment 7-3. My father was sick and was placed in hospice care, the only way I could find out is through a text message that was delayed getting delivered!
Please approve...if just for safety of residents.
Please approve the addition of more easily available communication. This is a safety issue as in the event of an emergency my cell phone does not work outside of my apartment. Thank you.

It is both shocking that we don't have coverage on this highly populated area of Mass and also shocking that the town is failing to allow the two main carriers to built out the infrastructure to allow their customers service in their residences. Please allow AT&T to add a tower to Abbot Mill to bolster the cell reception for the town, hopefully Verizon will be able to follow suite soon.
