Dear SACCOG Board of Directors,

As the new addition to the Capital Southeast Connector begins construction of the four lane highway between the new Bidwell Road and Prairie City Road - we ask your approval of, and funding for, a Scott Road intersection as part of the permanent long term solution.

The current proposed “temporary” fix is dangerous to the over 3000 daily users and many thousands more regular users. As well as to the medical and emergency, commercial and construction personnel who use Scott Road to access Rancho Murieta, Wilton, Rancho Cordova, Elk Grove, South Sacramento and Amador County.

Other Considerations

• The Board of Directors of the Capital Southeast Connector voted unanimously to give this project their number one priority in the maintenance and modernization category.

• The City of Folsom has made the inclusion of the Scott Rd intersection third on its top priority 2021 list.

• Including the intersection during highway construction is both more cost effective and far safer than an unsound temporary place holder with potential more disruptive construction at a later date.

• The Scott Rd/ White Rock intersect is already treacherous and the site of many crashes and near misses.

The current Scott Road can be reconfigured to join Prairie City Road and an existing, newly designed intersection. SACCOG has these plans. Scott Road is already well past its intended use as a lightly trafficked, rural shortcut and the many accidents and near misses will increase exponentially without this essential inclusion.
