Dear SACCOG Board of Directors,
As the new addition to the Capital Southeast Connector begins construction of the four lane highway between the new Bidwell Road and Prairie City Road - we ask your approval of, and funding for, a Scott Road intersection as part of the permanent long term solution.
The current proposed “temporary” fix is dangerous to the over 3000 daily users and many thousands more regular users. As well as to the medical and emergency, commercial and construction personnel who use Scott Road to access Rancho Murieta, Wilton, Rancho Cordova, Elk Grove, South Sacramento and Amador County.
Other Considerations
- The Board of Directors of the Capital Southeast Connector voted unanimously to give this project their number one priority in the maintenance and modernization category.
- The City of Folsom has made the inclusion of the Scott Rd intersection third on its top priority 2021 list.
- Including the intersection during highway construction is both more cost effective and far safer than an unsound temporary place holder with potential more disruptive construction at a later date.
- The Scott Rd/ White Rock intersect is already treacherous and the site of many crashes and near misses.
The current Scott Road can be reconfigured to join Prairie City Road and an existing, newly designed intersection. SACCOG has these plans. Scott Road is already well past its intended use as a lightly trafficked, rural shortcut and the many accidents and near misses will increase exponentially without this essential inclusion.

I have been reviewing the recent comments and the shared personal accounts regarding the danger at this intersection are truly sobering. These stories confirm that waiting for a later phase of construction is a risk we cannot afford to take. I am currently preparing to bring these concerns directly to the officials who hold the authority to approve a safer design.

The intersection there is atrocious as is for Rancho Murieta residents trying to turn left onto Whiterock road without a signal. I have been rear ended there myself. Please do more to find a better/quicker solution. Thank you!
I've lived in Rancho Murieta for six years and in that time my commute to Sacramento has increased from 35 minutes to 55 minutes. It is negligent to continually build houses without a traffic safety plan. The Scott Road intersection is paramount to resident safety.
That’s how I and many others get to our doctors, Crossing two lanes to make a u-turn is reckless for many senior drivers. And if they do not judge the traffic flow, dangerous to all drivers. Please do it right the first time
I represent countless families as a Realtor in Rancho Murieta - it is imperative that the safety of our residents be addressed. Scott Road is an important connecting road for many of us and needs to be as safe as possible!
This is a critical improvement for most Rancho Murieta residents regularly accessing Folsom for shopping and services. We pay our fair share of taxes but rarely seem to get value from road improvements in Sacramento county. This project should not be ignored by decision makers.

We are both over 70 and travel Scott Road once a week to shop Costco, Sam's, Home Depot, Lowes, Ross, Winco, Beer Wine & More, Wells Fargo etc. A safe trip is very much appreciated for seniors who are thriving, active and supporting our local shopping areas. Clean up the road please.
