Katika uwelewa wetu sisi Alumni, imekuja kufahamika kuwa shule yetu pendwa ya SOS ipo katika hatari ya kubinafsishwa au kukabidhiwa serikali waiendeshe. Wafadhili wa muda mrefu tokea kuasisiwa hadi sasa wapo tayari kuiachia shule hiyo ili ibinafsishwe au ikabidhiwe kwa serikali. Vyovyote vile kati ya hayo mawili, Alumni ambao ni matunda ya shule hiyo hawajashirikishwa katika hatua yeyote ile. Na ikiwa haya malengo ya kubinafsishwa/kukabidhiwa serikali yapo kweli, basi Alumni tunasimama katika msimamo wa KUYAPINGA maamuzi hayo.

Msimamo wetu upo katika fikra ya kwamba, kama malengo ya SOS Kenderdof International ni kutodhifili shule za SOS ikiwemo SOS Hermann Gmeiner Zanzibar, sisi kama alumni tunaomba shule hii iendelee kuwa chini ya mwamvuli wa SOS kwani uendeshaji wa shule hii kwa sasa (kwa tunavoelewa sisi) unategemea fee ya wanafunzi 100% (inaweza kujiendesha wenyewe bila ya usimamizi wowote wa kifedha). Lau Kama hakuna namna nyengine ya kufanya, ni lazima itoke SOS, basi tunaomba Walimu, Alumni na Wazazi washirikishwe badala ya kuwaachia Bodi pekee kufanya maamuzi.

Fomu (petition) hii, iliyosainiwa na wanafunzi waliosoma SOS (Alumni) kwa idadi kubwa, wanaunga mkono msimamo wa kutobinafsishwa moja kwa moja shule ya SOS.

It has come to our understanding and concern that our beloved SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Zanzibar is at a risk of being either privatized or taken by the government. The initial and longtime sponsors, described as SOS Kinderdof International, have already expressed their willingness of leaving the school completely. In any case possible, SOS Alumni Zanzibar, who are the product of the said school have not been engaged in any of this appalling move and updates. Since we are part of this big SOS family, SOS Alumni Zanzibar has a significant part in decision making that impacts the future of our school.

If the foresaid claims of privatizing/taken by the government have elements of truthfulness, SOS Alumni Zanzibar is on a position of REJECTING that immediate move. We contend by requesting SOS Kinderdof International to continue observing/overseeing/supervising the school. The observation may and should not be necessarily funds per se (since now the school is capable of operating with school fees), but at least maintain the general supervision/overlook share to the school. Had this request failed and not finding it substantial, then SOS Alumni Zanzibar has second request of involving Parents, Teachers, Alumni in final decision making instead of leaving the board alone.

This petition form is signed by a number of SOS Alumni Zanzibar who supports the issues discussed above.
