It all started with one resident noticed that 4 to 5 mozzies has appeared in their backyard in the evening. The concern then escalated to bazillion of mozzies appearance in the middle of the day in a month time. The issue is also experienced shared by few other neighbours who reside around the lake near Airmaid Drive Playground, i.e those who live on Fogarty St, Polaris Cct, Electra Dr, Beehive Dr, Airmaid Dr, Abbots Ave, Hartwood Ave.
In May 2020, one of the residents reached out to the Wyndham City Council to check who will be responsible to manage the pest of the artificial wetlands and got confirmed it is still under the developer responsibilities, which the issue parked under ID number PRKR0022/20 with the council.
The developer has an ample amount of time since then before the lockdown to organise an ecologist to investigate and propose a solution to this. But no action has been seen until September 2020.
Residents are concerned of the amount of mozzies that now invaded the neighbourhood, not just in the evening even during daylight. This is a potential OHS issue and who knows where this will lead, perhaps a new type of virus spread by mozzies.
We request the council's assistance to protect the residents' rights to live in a safe environment. This has passed beyond a comfort issue to OHS type.

I am currently compiling a list of all affected streets to present directly to the council members in charge of the wetland maintenance contract. Please send a quick email to your local representative demanding they hold the developer accountable for this infestation. Focus your message on the fact that these mosquitoes are now swarming during daylight hours.

The momentum behind this petition is forcing the developer to take notice. Send an email to the Wyndham City Council today to demand they enforce the developer's responsibility for the wetlands. We need to keep this pressure high until they actually start the pest control work.

You can't go outside in Williams landing after 5pm during spring and summer or you get eaten alive! Just want to be able to enjoy my town without walking through clouds of mosquitoes!
There are heaps of them around. Can't take kids to the park in the evenings because of the mozzies
The increase in these mozzies which also carry with them the calicivirus has unfortunately killed one of our new pet bunny. Please address the issue.
Mozzies have caused a havic day & Night and it has become a nightmare to live here on Polaris Cct. My young toddler is at risk of the bites and the issues thereafter. Kindly take action. Thanks
Please help us get rid of the mosquitoes/bugs. We cant open windows in the evening or at night as they will invade our homes. Also working as a medical professional I am concerned about the potential health impacts these mosquitos/bugs may cause.

I have no other option than walking via Fogarty st to/from Williams landing station and these mossies are killing me everyday.
