The Transgender Health Initiative (THI) is a school proposal for The Downtown School: A Lakeside School. The proposal suggests that the school's W120 - Health and Wellness intensive should encompass transgender health in the lessons taught. Take tucking as an example. It's a common practice for transgender women, though it can be harmful if done improperly. It is essential that our school addresses these topics so the student body is aware of transgender health and knowledgeable enough to engage with the lifestyle or help peers struggling as they transition.

I honestly did not think this would gain this much steam so fast because when I first typed it out I was just venting (maybe a little too intensely) about how weird it is that we skip over these health realities. It is honestly kind of surreal seeing so many people agreeing that the W120 curriculum actually needs to grow up a bit. This momentum feels real now and I am just trying to keep my head on straight while I prepare to show this to the faculty.

About time! Health class is so outdated it hurts. This is just basic respect for students who are already here and existing.
Finally some real talk about health in school. Kids are gonna explore these things regardless so lets make sure they have the right info so nobody gets hurt.
