Final supporters
Currently Rainham Mark is over subscribed and over 50 children have not been given a place. On the flip side Holcombe Grammar, a great school is struggling to fill its places. It's difficult to get to from areas of Gillingham and Rainham. Medway Council offer no subsidised 'M-Y' buses to it apart from from the Isle of Grain and Lordswood/Walderslade.
Children wishing to travel there need to take 2 separate buses (plus a walk of 10-15mins for some) and would have to pay £700+ per year for a bus pass.
There should be a fair system where all children are able to access their local Grammar schools and I'm starting this petition to get support for the Council
To fund a subsidised (not free) service from Gillingham/Rainham to Holcombe Grammar School, Letchworth ave, Chatham

The My bus service is a god send after my daughter didn't get her first choice 3 years ago and now has to travel to school. This service should be offers to all school children and their families as a safe way to get the school. It also needed to be looked at to pay for this as a monthly direct debit as in September my second daughter will also need to use the service and I will be asked to find £100 every 6 weeks whereas if it was made via DD it would be £50 a month

My friends son didn't get his 1st choice grammar school so has been forced to select a school from outside the area. Please help to make his transition to secondary a little smoother.
I agree. My son travels on a school bus you Rainham Mark and I feel better knowing he is safer.

There should be a fair system for all children wanting to get to and from their school. Rainham Mark has a school buss running up the road to Wigmore which is a much shorter distance.
