This petition is in support of naming the new middle school in Beverly, MA in the memory of our beloved English teacher, Gail Murray. The Beverly School Committee will be voting on the name of the school on April 26th, 2017. The signatures collected here will be offered in support of our request.

I just saw the number hit one hundred and honestly my brain is a little fried because I remember sitting at my kitchen table wondering if anyone else even remembered how much Gail meant to us. It feels surreal seeing these names pile up and I keep thinking about her classroom and how she would probably be totally embarrassed by all this attention yet secretly pleased.

Seeing all these names pop up on my screen feels like a total fever dream because I honestly did not think so many people remembered Gail the way I do. It keeps hitting me that this is actually starting to look like something bigger than just a few of us talking in the halls and honestly I am just trying to hold it together while I read through what everyone is writing.

Mrs. Murray's memory should be honored. She was a lovely teacher. I can still recite Robert Frost poems from memory thanks to her.
Gail Murray was a kind, caring woman and a wonderful teacher. She challenged students while making them feel right at home. It would be an honor to one day send my child to the Gail Murray Memorial school.
Hoping the School Committee will agree that this should happen. I didn't know Gail, but her loss really struck me, not only because it was so tragic, but because it was so devastating to her friends and fellow teachers.
Gail Murray was my aunt and friend. Her love of teaching and the respect and love she had for her students inspires me still. Thank you for remembering how special she was and for the creation of this petition; I am simply overwhelmed with gratitude.
I was a student of Mrs. Murray at Memorial Middle School. Her violent death occurred just a few years later while I was in high school. I would like to see her memorialized in this way. I also think that this is an opportunity to bring a awareness and create an ongoing discuss about access to mental health services.
Mrs. Murray was my homeroom and English teacher all those years ago. No-brainer to name the school for her.

Naming the school after Gail Murray would be a fantastic gesture. I was a student of Gail's on the year of tragic death and can say she was extremely dedicated to the well being and futures of her students.
