Out of the 11 NZ Nationals none of them have been held in the South Island. So having this year's Nationals being held in the South Island would help increase the number of competitors in New Zealand, as some cubers in the South Island may be more interested in competing in Nationals, rather a small competition, with a lack of variety, in terms of the number of events. This would be beneficial to the growth of speedcubing in NZ. Additionally, some places in the South Island would make for great tourist destinations if someone were to go there on a holiday.
