They actually backed down and the rangers have to change the rules so this is officially a win for all of us. I think back to when this started and my hands were shaking from anger but now I just feel like maybe people actually listen if you yell loud …

I was looking at the total sitting there and thinking about how we are just a handful of people away from crossing into triple digits which feels huge for Leeton. If you could just send the link to a few folks who might actually care about these animals and their owners that would be amazing because I really want to hit that hundred mark before I head into town today.

We are working very hard, we should have the right to defend our animals, its too late for our Indie, the ranger shot her before we had a chance to defend her. We must all work together and improve way LSC handle our pets

I am taking my dogs out of leeton while we are away . what if someone opened my gate and my dogs got out , it would not be my fault. i feel very angry with what has happened in my town, it is shameful and the ranger should be held responsible.

Obviously as Mark say's "you need a new ranger" that is more understanding and realistic about "pets" in a country town, then again people in this town of Leeton have the right to vote out the council if they don't respond to the voters requests, remind them who elects them.

Appalling abuse of power,by someone who should be able to be trusted. It is unacceptable that rangers think they can treat community members like third class citizens and behave in manner which is a gross breach of their role as local government employee

New Rangers and compassionate staff are needed. Staff must focus on rehoming, not killing, and work openly with rescue groups and volunteers, as many other pounds already do.

I would like to know why the Leeton Ranger does not work with Animal Rescue Groups, this could and would help alot more with desexing of animals and finding homes for strays and unwanted pets. Other Rangers in other towns work with Rescuer Groups, so why not Leeton, I think it is about time we out this question to the Leeton Shire Council.

I am horrified and shocked by this story. That two precious dogs from one family were recklessly put down by a cruel and barbaric ranger is beyond comprehension and beyond words. Almost unbelievable that this could happen. Firstly i think the ranger needs to be sacked and reprimanded and the family should not only receive an apology but some sort of compensation. Though you cannot bring Narla and Bruce back from the grave something should be offered to the family. At the very least the bodies should have been returned and it is my understanding that they were not and the family were not permitted to retrieve them, which is also disgusting. Apparently this is not the first time this has happened and this alone makes my blood boil. How can this happen more than once? I have complained and vented my feelings, first to the local vet, to see if there is any pressure they could apply and then i wrote to the Leeton Council as well. This should never have been allowed to happen and should never be able to happen again. For some of us, our dogs are much loved and precious family members and when they are registered and micro chipped they should be afforded some sort of protection, especially from cruel and barbaric rangers that are paid by councils, who are in turn paid by us the community. We expect more.
