Saddened and disgusted by the recent incident projected through media of a Raiders football star (Thursday, 4th November, 2010), I was appalled to discover that Criminal Acts 1900 Section79 Law Against Bestiality(NSW CONSOLIDATED) where "Any person who commits an act of bestiality with any animal shall be liable to imprisonment for fourteen years. ", is NOT applicable in the ACT. Why should we discriminate between animals and people? We are both livings beings. We both feel love. We both feel hate. We most definitely,both feel ABUSE. Celebrities should not be given leniency,just as any other person involved in acts of animal abuse/ sodomy - allowing them to beat the Justice System with a mere slap on the wrist sends out a bad message and is only forming a sanction for offenders to continue. There is no excuse for animal abuse. Please support this petition and be the voice for the animals.The internet has become an influential tool in making a joke out of very serious issues such as abuse. I urge all animal lovers alike, to stay strong headed and make the difference-all it takes is a signature (and I have posted a link to my group "VOICE FOR THE ANIMALS" on FB for those who want to follow the progress of this petition) .With much compassion and hope, I shall be approaching congress to have this law enforced in ALL states of Australia.
