Champ was a pit bull who froze to death in Norristown, PA. on Jan. 6, 2018 or shortly before. Numerous reports were made concerning the dog's living conditions going back at least a year. Rescue personnel attempted to help the dogs owner, Cecelia Johnson last year by providing proper shelter, food, hay for warmth and so on. She began ignoring check ins from the rescuer. After the dogs death, charges have been filed in connection including a felony. We seek to ensure she is convicted of all charges and a plea agreement not accepted that would entail any reduction in charges. We also seek accountability and answers regarding how this situation was handled from the beginning so that we can push for change so as to not have such a tragedy happen again.

The suffering and death of this dog was cruel and unnecessary. Cecilia Johnson must never be allowed again to have an animal in her care. It is unacceptable that this dog died with full knowledge of everyone of his abusive situation and the guilty party must be held accountable to the fullest degree of the law.

I was one of the people that consistently reported the neglect and abuse this dog suffered when I first learned about it. There are many that never followed up on the abuse and neglect that was reported. Shame, shame, shame on you.

This individual took advantage of the rescuers, squandered the rescue's limited resources, and thumbed her nose at animal cruelty laws. No plea deal...no mercy!!!

We have laws in Pennsylvania to prevent this from happening. What needs changing so that the animal can be taken when the "owner" is cited with animal cruelty? Just once! Why should someone be given multiple chances to abuse a helpless animal?

Our system failed this Dog. The owner of this Dog was offered help from several people. People in the community wanted to help. We relied on the SPCA and PD to handle it. The Dog is now dead. Please consider prosecuting this woman appropriately and never letting her own an animal again!

After multiple calls to police and animal rescue, and after attempts to help her wtih caring for Champ were ignored, why wasn't he taken away from this woman? He should have been taken from her and brought to a no-kill shelter where he would have been cared for until he could be adopted by someone who would love him and take care of him.
