With so many students at UCSD many find themselves hunting for convenient study locals on campus that offer the trifecta: air condition, silence, and couches. Cognitive Science Building 114 offers all of these! It is one of the few spaces on campus that can be used as a conference room, quiet/group study space, hang out lounge, and sudo bedroom (for the commuters ;) ) all at once. It is for these reasons that UCSD's Cognitive Science Student Association is fighting to keep this room from being turned into offices next quarter.
There would be heavy consequences to the CogSci student body if this space closes. It would be much harder for CogSci students to collaborate with each other without competing with students in other departments for on campus space. IA's would also loose a convenient location to host their student's office hours. And, of course, the Cognitive Science Student Association would loose its location to host board meetings to create events for our members.
Please show your support for this vital student space by signing this petition, emailing Thanh Maxwell CogSci's undergraduate advisor that you use the room, and coming by the room to show its importance on campus.

Not a cogs major, but many nights have been spent studying neuroscience with cogs majors in the room. Shame to see it closed!
This space is multipurpose and facilitates study time, quiet time away from the overcrowded campus, club meetings, and badly needed review sessions with other students, as well as TAs and IAs. Having a place that is made available specifically for undergraduates within the department promotes a sense of community and belonging for me. At a time when our universities resources are shrinking instead of growing, we students need all the help we can get.
this room has allowed many students to do group studies together and with the TA/IA.
Save CSB 114!!!!! It's our undergraduate space.
