A hundred people actually want to call that road Cheers Drive which is honestly such a massive vibe and makes me laugh every time I think about the council sign guy having to write that down. I need to figure out who to email at the city office because maybe this is actually going to happen if we keep the momentum rolling.

We are getting so incredibly close to that one thousand mark and I can already imagine the look on their faces at the council office when they see it. It would just be so iconic if we hit that milestone before the end of the week so please just send the link to a few people or post it on your socials because this really needs to gain some actual momentum right now.

The expression of gratitude as passengers leave a bus is "cheers drive". By naming this short road with the name "Cheers Drive" the Council will not only give permanent effect to this expression of gratitude, it is also a clever play on the word Drive.
I am an alumni of University of Wales College of Medicine who lived in Cardiff 1999-2004. Everyone said "Cheers Drive" when getting off the bus. This petition has brought back many a happy memory!
Thanks for starting the petition, Jayne. I know Huw has already said, “Let’s do this” so just to say, it could be a bit of a little tourist attraction as well as a thank-you to the city’s bus drivers through covid times (lovely idea, that). I have my own pair of scissors for the opening.
If we can stick gold post boxes about the place to celebrate Olympians, why would you not name a road ‘Cheers Drive’ to honour all of our drivers?! It’s such a welsh saying too. This needs to happen!! :)
We need to ensure we capture cultural heritage in place names this is not only about the welsh language but cultural heritage too. Quirky fun sense of humour is also an important part of community and city character so something cardiff misses.
If they don’t do this then the council officially has no sense of humour.

The bus drivers seem to be forgotten when “Thank you” was being said to just about everyone.They put themselves at risk keeping the transport moving for hospital staff etc, a road named after them would be a wonderful thank you .They should all be proud.
