The council has officially withdrawn their removal order and approved the current dining area layout. We are retaining all existing wooden barriers and greenery as originally installed. I will be finalizing the compliance paperwork this week to ensure the arrangement remains permanent.

Please sign our petition to help keep the new front dining area.
We replaced the old dining area with new barriers and furniture. The replacement barriers and furniture complied with our current council consent. However, a local person has complained to council and council then instructed us to remove the replacement barriers and furniture.
We went to considerable expense to build the front from recycled timber, and added greenery. We did this for the enjoyment of our patrons and it would be a shame if some sour apple made us have to remove this. Please sign this to show your support. I have submitted a formal request for a meeting with the planning department to review the council instructions. Our legal representative is currently cross-referencing our installation details with existing consent requirements to prepare for this discussion.

The scale of recent support provides the leverage needed for our upcoming formal meeting with council planning officers. I am currently drafting a letter that cites this public backing to request a stay on the removal order while we propose a revised layout.

The barriers and greenery look great and are safer than the previous ones and it seems to have brought more business to the cafe. Plus, plus, plus. So why the negative reaction from our Council. A single complaint should not have such an effect. Weigh this against the positive remarks council.
Why is it that one comment makes councils jump? or is it who the person knows? It's safer, the old barriers could blow down in the wind, the new ones are sturdy and attractive. If anything it's made the street look better. Leave it alone.
I love going to Melbourne and enjoying the outdoor seating. I always think that we have a warmer climate and should have more outdoor than Melbourne so I'm all for it so long as it doesn't impact pedestrians.
We applaud the effort the Buzzbar has put in too create the outdoor space for their clientele, this sort of business should be encouraged in Hospitatlity I support them through this challenge.
Looks great and brings more customers into Mortdale. This brings more business to other local businesses so should be greatful that buzz bar has put extra time and money into their business
What a waste of time - the seats and barriers are awesome. In no way do they affect the sidewalk or access to the street. Buzzbar is a great place for everyone! #keeptheseats

Buzz Bar provides much-needed all day coffee to locals. Being one of the only casual places open at night for a piece of cake and a coffee it is needing of extra seating outside. looks OK to me.
