The city finally committed to the new playspace for Drummond. I am worn thin from the long fight but this outcome makes the struggle worth it. We will keep checking in as they break ground to ensure they follow through on the promise.

The feedback from our neighborhood has been exhausting but necessary to read. I am still waiting on a real response from the office, but the silence simply tells me we have to be louder.

According to a Washington University study, urban public school children get more exercise when given the opportunity to play outside during recess, as opposed to having to play indoors in a school gym or classroom. Our kids deserve a safe outdoor space!
Unfortunately our playground has become an issue of safety. Recently, my son who is in 1st grade was running through the bridge and his leg got stuck between the gaps. Children from Drummond and the entire community deserve a safety playground!
Yes, our #cpsplaygroundsobroke. It’s more than a matter of aesthetics, there are elements of this space that are unsafe, especially for the 3 and 4 year olds that spend 35 hours a week here.
Former Drummond parents but the lack of a safe play space for my children were one of the factors that caused my family to move out of Chicago!
We have been 17 year residents of the Bucktown community & 32nd Ward. Drummond has been a blessing to our family but desperately needs an overall of its outdoor space. Along with the 606 this could be an amazing addition for our community’s most precious resource, our children.
This would be amazing for the school AND the community!
The kids need grass to run in! It's all mud at the moment.

On rainy days and for days following, our students and community cannot set foot on a large section of our playground, as it is, quite literally, a mud pit. Drummond is an incredible CPS school in a wonderful community. Both deserve a new playspace!
