An article appeared in the Westmorland Gazette in October 2013 calling for urgent road works to resurface part of the A684 between the top of Black Horse Hill and Junc 37 of the M6, this has still not happened!
This stretch of road (despite a 20 mile an hour speed limit being imposed) is still experiencing at least one crash a week.
Cumbria County Council have told local MP Tim Farron that the road is due to be resurfaced this coming summer....this is too long to wait!
Please sign this petition in the hope that with the backing of Mr Farron and public support we can get this road resurfaced sooner rather than later. So far no accidents on this stretch of road have led to any fatalities, let us get this sorted before one happens.

Cumbria County Council thinks they can ignore us while crashes happen on this road every single week. We are about to hit one hundred signatures so push this link out to everyone you know right now and force them to pay attention.

Had an accident 3rd Oct 2013. Spent 1 week in hospital with fractured spine. Still having physio. Are the highways waiting for a fatality before any action is taken

This section of road is treacherous, putting up 20mph signs is such a cop out by ccc highways. Will this ease their conscience when their is a fatality? I travel 30000 miles a year, mainly in cumbria and this is the only place I feel my vehicle lose grip!

The road condition is beyond a joke. I very nearly had a serious accident doing 50mph down it on my bike last summer with loose gravel in perfect dry conditions. I'd also add that the surface from the bridge by Settlebeck School up to Longstone Common would not be fit for a horse and cart 200 years ago.

I have skidded on that dangerous part of the road before it was common knowledge how dangerous it was, i thought i had got a flat so stopped at closes garage only for them to tell me that 3 people that week had done the same. The road up Black Horse is incredible its like driving on a river bed. Please sort something out

Do it within a month..we were told it couldn't be done in winter due to low temperatures but only today resurfacing has started on the same road but nearer Kendal.
