we just got the word that 6th grade is officially coming back to ponderosa next year. i am honestly so happy that our kids get to stay in this environment a bit longer. thanks a ton for sticking with this and helping us pull it off.

Final supporters
We are gathering signatures from parents and supporters in the Paradise Unified School District, to expand Ponderosa Elementary School From K-5 to K-6 grades. Ponderosa School is an excellent school for education, energetic self-motivated teachers, a strong principal that cares for students and parents and a very involved Special needs program, teachers that love their students as their own!
The school promotes caring, communication and the future through programs like the STEAM Lab for science, technology and engineering, computer, music and art labs and a well maintained library for research and reading enrichment.
Bringing back 6th grade to the campus will continue well developed relationships with teachers versus students during this critical time in a young persons life. The familiar surroundings and comfortable campus allows students to focus on their education.

My granddaughter loves this school and never wants to leave- her words. My grandson also is a student here with growing bonds. Moving to new situations takes away from focus on studies as well.
This is a positive step forward for students and the community. Having worked at the middle school for many years, I feel it would be better for 6th graders to prepare for the their transition at an elementary campus. Thank you for this consideration.
This is a great idea for more options. Ponderosa used to be K-6 and it would be nice to be able to offer that again.
I have never believed that elementary schools should be K-5. Children that are in 6th grade are under peer pressure at this age. Girls at the age of 11 want to be like the older students and their maturity level is not there yet. Elementary schools should be K-6.
It’s time to bring 6th grade back; so I can continue the preparing my 5th graders for 6th grade, then for 7th grade when they are better prepared developmentally, socially, and academically.
