Re: YAI application for a Group Home 5 Halsey Place
Dear Honorable Carl Fulgenzi and Members of the Town Board:
We the undersigned as residents of the Town of Mount Pleasant hereby
object to the approval of the application by YAI for a group home to be located at
5 Halsey Place on the following stated grounds:
FIRST: Pursuant to Mental Hygiene Law of the State of New York the
location of a group home at 5 Halsey Place will cause there to be a saturation of
group homes and/or similar uses within a confined geographical area such that the
existing character of the neighborhood shall be adversely impacted. In this regard
we request that the Town Board take notice of the inventory of group homes
and/or similar uses now existing in the community.
SECOND: Based upon the proposed residential population to be serviced at
this location the physical plant associated with the property at 5 Halsey Place is
inadequate to effectively and safely service the proposed residents. The required
physical alterations to the existing residence and site shall adversely impact the
neighborhood and therefore a more appropriate alternative location should be
found.
WHEREFORE the undersigned respectfully request that this Honorable Board reject
the proposed site as suitable for a group home.

I do not agree with placing a multi family house in a primarily a single family area.
I strongly oppose the sale of 5 Halsey Place to maintain the safety of the neighborhood. I live at 12 Roberta Court
I think Mt. Pleasant has done plenty over the years with these types of facilities. There are many town in Westchester County and I think Mt. Pleasant gets dumped on a bit.... Sincerely, Nicole Ponte
There exists a similar home on 11 Sunset Dr. Right near by. There have been 20 times the police dept. have been called to this home in the past year. This is approx. twice/mo. Only the people on Halsey will be inconvenienced by this, no one else!!
Concerned about another home coming off the tax rolls. If this was someone buying this home and they had children with IDD we would welcome them, because it would be a “family “ moving into the neighborhood. This is a much different situation.
I own a house in Valhalla. I fully support my fellow neighbors rights as local property owners to object to any undertaking against our will that will not only devalue our property investment, but also present an undue increase on our already exasperated tax burden.
Nobody is against disabled kids. We’re against putting businesses in the middle of a neighborhood, this lowering home values and removing yet another(!) property from the tax base. Mount Pleasant is overrun with group homes and we have nothing but problems with them. It is a no-brainer to be against this sale to going through. Let the bleeding hearts in Armonk or Chappaqua put them in their neighborhoods instead of dumping on Mt Pleasant constantly.

If this group home is approved are we losing the tax base from this property? We already lost the taxes from the private school, how much does the town expect the residents to cover in the tax loss???
