Objection to Group Home at 5 Halsey Pl, Valhalla, NY 10595

I own a house in Valhalla. I fully support my fellow neighbors rights as local property owners to object to any undertaking against our will that will not only devalue our property investment, but also present an undue increase on our already exasperated tax burden.

Nobody is against disabled kids. We’re against putting businesses in the middle of a neighborhood, this lowering home values and removing yet another(!) property from the tax base. Mount Pleasant is overrun with group homes and we have nothing but problems with them. It is a no-brainer to be against this sale to going through. Let the bleeding hearts in Armonk or Chappaqua put them in their neighborhoods instead of dumping on Mt Pleasant constantly.

If this group home is approved are we losing the tax base from this property? We already lost the taxes from the private school, how much does the town expect the residents to cover in the tax loss???

Why do we such high tax rates when we keep putting these people in our backyard? If you people want to keep opening these facilities, lower the taxes DRAMATICALLY since we are living in the ghetto.

There is a time and a place for everything. This is not the place nor the time for this . The family of the local girl can buy their own home and regulate the residents and employees. Once it is a state facility , it will be a wreck .

This home will most surely destroy property values on this block

I do not agree with placing a multi family house in a primarily a single family area.

Mt. Pleasant does not need another tax exempt establishment. Our taxes are high enough. Please vote NO.

I strongly encourage the Councilmembers of the Town of Mount Pleasant (the “Town”) to consider the amount of tax exempt properties that the Town already has, as compared to neighboring municipalities - including but not limited to residential treatment centers and facilities, group homes, cemeteries, and special act schools. The Town has an over-abundance of properties that do not contribute to the property tax revenues that are so desperately needed, and should seriously consider the ramifications of adding more.

Mount Pleasant has it’s fair share of group homes. It’s not about the kids!!

I’m against putting this group home here

I am in favor of group homes however feel that the town of mt. Pleasant had shown its support with a large number of homes as well as residential treatment centers.

We have enough group homes in our neighbourhood. Just not right with the taxes we pay.

We have our fair share of group homes in the Hawthorne/ Thornwood area. It is a strain to our police dept and community. It’s time to look elsewhere.
