Mayfield Ranch and The Highlands at MR are one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in our areas. The appeal is the quiet and nature, but close to activities and the town. Unfortunately, many are choosing to not follow traffic laws and are driving, at times, in excess of 20 miles over the posted speed limit. One way to control this, and protect our children, is to install a 4 way stop sign at the intersection of Crest Lane and New Hope. Please consider signing the petition to help protect our children, pets, and family.

I spent the afternoon watching cars fly through the intersection and it only confirmed why I started this. The local council members have finally acknowledged my emails so we are waiting to hear back about a formal review.

Seeing this level of support for our neighborhood safety makes me feel less alone in the fear I have every time my kids walk to the bus stop. The momentum behind this request is proof that we all want the same peace of mind for our families.

The middle school and high school LISD bus stop is on this road and the kids stand right next to the street. Cars speed down at 50 miles an hour and if a kid accidentally steps off the curb, falls, or gets pushed (which I’ve seen), it would be so tragic if a car is coming too fast. I would say 60-70% of cars speed down this road because it’s so long and straight. Lots of families walk and exercise on the sidewalks.

A signal light will likely be needed in a few short years as well! However this is a start!

Yes, we need to keep the roads safe! Too many people speed down that road which is dangerous.
