Final supporters
I am working with city council to get a 3-Way stop sign at the corner of Bainbridge and Faywood. There are two large elementary and middle schools on Bainbridge (Dublin Heights and St. Roberts) and the number of children crossing is increasing every year. Currently there is a flashing light crosswalk system in place, however these types of crossings were deemed unsafe years ago and that is why there are very few of them throughout the city. I walk my kids to school most days and cross at this intersection, it is VERY busy and a lot of cars fail to stop when the lights are flashing. I am fighting for this 3-Way stop to hopefully prevent a child from being seriously injured or killed. Please sign this petition if you would like to help me keep the community kids safe when crossing at this busy intersection.

I really thought this might just be me yelling into the void but looking at how many people actually care about this intersection is honestly overwhelming. It makes me feel a lot less crazy when I am standing there waiting for cars to slow down while my kids are holding my hands.

Please do something about this! My kids are almost ready to walk to school and back home by themselves and no matter how much guidance & instruction I give them, there will still be people who will disregard the cross walk in their cars. This is terrifying! Please protect the children in our community!
As an adult, I find it treacherous to use this crosswalk. I worry about my kids who use it everyday. Many drivers do not stop, even if we're standing at the curb waiting to cross, and even if the flashing lights have been activated. It is simply not safe.
This intersection is used by my three children who attend school at St Robert Catholic School and on three occasions one of my children were almost struck by a vehicle not aware of the crosswalk. A stop sign would provide a safer intersection
Snow persists on the edges of the intersection, making it very easy for the turning cars to lose control. Stopping before turning needs to be mandatory!
If we are encouraging our kids to walk to school than their journey must offer a reasonable amount of safety. A three way for such a busy crossing strikes me as a must!
Too many people do not follow the rules!!! We need this!
I am an adult and I do not like crossing there. I cannot tell you how many times the cars do NOT stop when the crosswalk lights are flashing with kids and adluts in the crosswalk. In the morning is the the worst time... kids even walking north on Faywood (sourth-east side) are almost run over as they are trying to cross bainbridge to get onto the sidewalk on the other side (North-east side) cars just turning in or out of Bainbridge. So yes, something should be done.

The traffic congestion also builds up directly on Bainbridge in front of the schools due to the inability of cars to efficiently turn out onto Faywood without a 3-way stop. It gets very unsafe anywhere near Dublin heights school with the kids in the morning and afternoon.
Please do something about this!
