I am working
with city council to get a 3-Way stop sign at
the corner of Bainbridge and Faywood. There are two large elementary and middle
schools on Bainbridge (Dublin Heights and St. Roberts) and the number of children crossing
is increasing every year. Currently there is a flashing light
crosswalk system in place, however these types of crossings were deemed unsafe
years ago and that is why there are very few of them throughout the city.
I walk my kids to school most days and cross at this intersection, it is
VERY busy and a lot of cars fail to stop when the lights are flashing. I am
fighting for this 3-Way stop to hopefully prevent a child from being
seriously injured or killed. Please sign this petition if you would like
to help me keep the community kids safe when crossing at this busy
intersection.
The traffic congestion also builds up directly on Bainbridge in front of the schools due to the inability of cars to efficiently turn out onto Faywood without a 3-way stop. It gets very unsafe anywhere near Dublin heights school with the kids in the morning and afternoon.
