Turnerberry Parkette, located between Silverwood Circle and Loughlin Hill Crescent off Turnerberry Avenue (North East Ajax) , is an outdated, underused park that no longer meets the needs of our growing community. Its aging play structures and sand surface are rarely used, especially when several newer, modern playgrounds nearby are consistently full of children and families.
Rather than allowing this small piece of public space to go underutilized, we are asking the Town of Ajax to transform Turnerberry Parkette into a state-of-the-art calisthenics park. Outdoor fitness parks provide a free, accessible place for people of all ages to improve their physical and mental health, build strength, encourage healthy lifestyles, and create a stronger sense of community.
While there are calisthenics parks in north Ajax, they do not offer the variety or quality of the modern facilities found in Toronto. Ajax has an opportunity to build a destination fitness park that better serves today's residents. With many teenagers and young adults living in the surrounding neighbourhood, this space could become a positive gathering place that promotes fitness, recreation, and community engagement.
Let's put this valuable public land to better use by replacing an outdated, underused playground with a modern outdoor fitness facility that will benefit the community for years to come.
It's currently underused and this proposal would finally put it to good use. A modern calisthenics park would give me access to fitness facilities in my neighborhood while creating a space for my friend's kids and the whole community to enjoy. Rather than letting public land sit empty, let's transform it into something that actually serves people.
