Subject: Humble Appeal for Amma's Intervention to Secure Jan Shatabdi Express Stoppages at Karunagappally Railway Station (KPY)

We, the people of Karunagappally and the surrounding regions of Kollam district, Kerala, humbly appeal to Mata Amritanandamayi Math (Amritapuri Ashram) to kindly intervene and extend its continued support to secure stoppages for the Thiruvananthapuram–Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi Express trains at Karunagappally Railway Station (KPY).

Why Karunagappally Needs Jan Shatabdi Stoppages

Karunagappally Railway Station serves a large population across Karunagappally taluk and neighbouring areas. It is an important transportation hub for students, working professionals, patients, senior citizens, families and pilgrims. Despite the region's significant passenger traffic and growing importance, the absence of Jan Shatabdi stoppages forces many travellers to depend on other stations, resulting in additional travel, expense and inconvenience.

Karunagappally holds exceptional importance because of its proximity to Amritapuri Ashram, the international spiritual headquarters of Amma, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's Amritapuri campus and Amrita Ayurveda Hospital. Thousands of devotees, students, employees, volunteers and visitors travel to and from these institutions. Amritapuri attracts devotees from across India and abroad, particularly during major spiritual gatherings and special occasions.

The availability of Jan Shatabdi services at Karunagappally would significantly improve convenient, faster and affordable rail connectivity for these travellers and the wider public. It would also make journeys easier for devotees visiting Amritapuri and people accessing educational and healthcare facilities in the region.

Our Specific Request

We humbly request stoppages at Karunagappally Railway Station in both directions for the following trains:

• 12075 – Thiruvananthapuram–Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi Express
• 12076 – Kozhikode–Thiruvananthapuram Jan Shatabdi Express

A halt for these trains would benefit residents of Karunagappally and neighbouring areas, students, employees, patients and the thousands of devotees and visitors travelling to Amritapuri Ashram.

Previous Representation by Mata Amritanandamayi Math

We gratefully acknowledge the initiative already taken by Mata Amritanandamayi Math in raising this important public demand. In a letter dated 4 July 2026, Swami Amritaswaroopananda Puri, Vice Chairman of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, submitted a representation to the Hon. Union Minister of Railways requesting train stoppages at Karunagappally Railway Station, including the Thiruvananthapuram–Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi Express trains.

This representation has given renewed hope to the people of Karunagappally. We sincerely appreciate the Math's support and respectfully appeal for its continued intervention to take this matter forward until a favourable decision is achieved.

Our Humble Appeal to Amma and Mata Amritanandamayi Math

We, the people of Karunagappally and the surrounding regions, earnestly appeal to Mata Amritanandamayi Math to kindly intervene in this long-pending matter and extend its full support to fulfil our genuine request for Jan Shatabdi Express stoppages at Karunagappally Railway Station.

We humbly request the Math to actively pursue this matter with the Hon. Union Minister of Railways and the concerned authorities at various levels of the Ministry of Railways, the Railway Board and Southern Railway. We further earnestly request the Math to maintain continuous follow-up with the concerned authorities, make necessary representations wherever required, and persistently pursue the matter until the requested stoppages are approved and officially introduced at the earliest possible opportunity.

We sincerely believe that the Math's kind intervention, continued engagement and persistent follow-up will lend significant strength to this long-standing public demand and help bring a favourable outcome for the people of Karunagappally, neighbouring communities and the thousands of devotees and visitors travelling to Amritapuri.

Given the importance of Karunagappally as a major passenger centre and as the principal railway access point for devotees visiting Amritapuri, we hope that this genuine request will receive the necessary attention and be resolved without further delay.

This petition is a collective appeal from the people of Karunagappally and neighbouring regions, seeking the kind intervention and continued support of Amma and Mata Amritanandamayi Math.
