Every day, a large number of students and faculty members depend on the college bus for their daily commute. However, the current bus does not have enough seating capacity to accommodate everyone comfortably.
At present, approximately 23 to 25 students and 11 to 13 faculty/staff members travel on the bus regularly, while the bus has a seating capacity of only 36 passengers. Because of this limited capacity, several students are forced to stand throughout the journey. Some students are unable to get a seat in both the morning and evening trips.
Students are paying approximately ₹17,500 for the college transportation service, yet many are unable to receive a basic part of that service, a proper seat during their daily commute. Standing for the entire journey is uncomfortable and can become particularly difficult during longer trips.
The situation is also likely to become worse as new students continue to join the college. The number of students and faculty members using the bus can therefore increase further, while the current bus capacity will remain unchanged.
We are requesting the Transport Department and college administration to address this issue by providing a larger bus, preferably with a seating capacity of around 56 passengers, or by introducing an additional bus if that is more practical.
This petition is an effort to bring the collective concern of students to the attention of the administration. We request the Transport Department to review the current transportation capacity and take appropriate action so that students who pay for the service can travel comfortably and safely.
If you regularly use this bus and have faced this problem, please sign this petition to show your support for increasing the bus capacity.
