I propose that the focus be on actually enforcing the previous policy rather than discriminating against the female students. If changes are to be made, the primary dress code should focus on independence, safety, and freedom of movement for all students and should comfortable, as well as weather-appropriate per the Montessori method.

This policy is discriminatory and unnecessary. Let the kids be kids and play as comfortably as they can in this hot weather. This policy will do nothing but punish girls who did nothing wrong because you will still have to deal with the bad actors, if there even were any in the first place.

I support teaching modesty, respect, and appropriate dress, but I believe those expectations should be applied equally to all students regardless of gender. My concern is not about shorts themselves, but about a policy that removes an option only for girls while leaving it available for boys. I want my daughter to attend a school where learning, character, and faith are the primary focus, rather than placing disproportionate emphasis on girls’ clothing. I think that boys and girls should share the same dress code rules. I think that the strict dress code rules are very difficult to follow when the weather is extremely hot. There's no reason for knee length shorts. Those are virtually non-existent in clothing stores. Kids should not have to suffer uncomfortably in the heat over exposing some skin above their knees. Neither boys nor girls should wear shirts showing their bums, shirts showing off their tummies, or shorts with excessively low necks

My daughter WIIL be treated fairly. This is not optional. We have a zero tolerance policy for sexism. I really would be disappointed to learn the school we love no longer represents our values. We would have to reconsider many things.

The current policy is perfectly sufficient. In a building that is 75 degrees no one needs to be wearing pants. If you’ve ever googled girls capris you will be hard pressed to find anything in that size. Now women will find all kinds but NOT CHILDREN! They work on the floor a lot and I personally would rather my daughter wear fitted shorts that you can’t see up the leg, that are comfortable, and that she can move in. Shorts that come to the knee is just fine. Punish offenders not everyone!

This policy is discriminatory and weaponizing as it only addresses girls of certain ages. The policy’s vagueness has no inseam measurement requirement. Or definition of a “capri”. This confusion is further exasperated by not including skirt lengths or other age students in dress code policies. Consistently followed disciplinary action steps for offenders would be a better course of action rather than a stricter policy.
