We are asking Greenlawn Cemetery to stop changing decoration rules and to stop taking decorations off gravesites. Families and visitors place flowers, ornaments, and other decorations as a simple way to remember and honor their loved ones. When those items are removed, it causes hurt, confusion, and mistrust in a place that should offer peace and respect.
Greenlawn Cemetery should keep its rules clear, stable, and fair. If decoration guidelines are needed, they should be made public, easy to understand, and applied consistently. People should not have to worry that what they place with care will be taken away without warning or a clear reason. A cemetery is not just grounds and headstones. It is a sacred place where people come to grieve, reflect, and stay connected to those they have lost.
We want Greenlawn Cemetery to stop making sudden changes to its decoration rules and to respect the wishes of families who are trying to honor their loved ones in a personal and meaningful way. We urge the cemetery to work with the community, communicate any future rule changes clearly, and protect the dignity of every gravesite. The undersigned stand together in asking for consistency, respect, and compassion at Greenlawn Cemetery.
This is our only way still being able to feel close to our loved ones when we’re able to decorate and show them that we still love and care for them no matter how far away they are the families have paid for this spot and we should be able to put whatever we would like in our area
