The new Starlink plan for worldwide cruising sailors is welcome, but the price policy for “Personal Maritime” is a sharp increase that many of us in the sailing community cannot reasonably absorb. Compared with the old Roam Unlimited plan, which was around 100 USD including VAT depending on the country registered, Personal Maritime is announced at 185 USD plus VAT per month. On top of that, the ocean mode needed when on the open ocean is set to rise from around 2 USD including VAT per GB, again depending on the country registered, to 6 USD per GB plus VAT.
For cruising sailors, this is not a small adjustment. It is a price jump of several hundred percent. That kind of increase will put Starlink out of reach for many cruisers, especially budget-oriented sailors who rely on affordable connectivity to plan routes, check weather, stay in touch, and handle everyday life at sea. Many will be forced to end their Starlink contracts and go back to local SIM cards, even when those are less practical or less reliable for offshore cruising.
We therefore ask Starlink to rethink the pricing for the newly announced “Personal Maritime” plan and bring it closer to a fair and accessible level for the worldwide cruising community. A service made for sailors should remain usable for the many ordinary people who live, travel, and work on the water.

Access for sailors to good communications makes sailing a lot safer for everyone.
I’ve been a starlink user since the beginning. I’ve had Gen 1, Gen 2 and now the mini. I should be rewarded for loyalty not having to constantly change plans and constantly have huge price increases.
We need better service as full time live aboard Nomadic people.

Even though it’s specifically intended for cruising sailors, this is a huge increase over the existing roam unlimited plan. Almost double per month and more then 3 times the ocean mode per gb. Is this what you would consider a fair price increase? Why not just lift the time limit for roam unlimited? This would have been the simplest and fairest approach. After all roam unlimited should be unlimited!
