We are asking that Sofie be allowed to stay in Belgium, where her life is, rather than being pushed to move to India. Sofie values her friend Annelies and misses her deeply, but Belgium is where her home, routines, and community are. It is where her daily life is built, and where she wants to remain.
Annelies now lives in India and wants Sofie to move there to help with Kafka Life Drawing sessions. We respect the importance of friendship and creative work, but a request like this should not outweigh Sofie’s own wishes and the life she has established in Belgium. A person’s place in the world should be shaped by their own needs, stability, and sense of belonging.
Sofie does not want to leave Belgium. What she wants most is to stay where she is rooted, while still keeping her friendship with Annelies alive. If anything, it would mean far more to her if Annelies could move closer instead. That would let their connection continue without asking Sofie to give up the life she has made for herself.
We support Sofie’s right to stay in Belgium, close to the life she knows and the people and place that matter to her.
Because I want to keep Sofie here
