We believe that Somerset needs no new settlements; rather, that housing growth should be through organic development.
We object to the proposed Taylor Wimpey new town in the Blackdown Vale east of the M5 a settlement the size of Wellington with all the strain on Taunton's facilities that it will bring. Taunton should not be divided by the M5. It should remain the boundary for the town.

Destruction of pristine countryside, if anyone walked this area they would be in complete astonishment that someone would want to destroy it, absolutely disgusting proposal.
SSSI and AONB must be protected to a 2km radius. This means the building must not and cannot happen. Housing growth should be organic and no more than 10% in the first 5 years and no more than 20% over the full life of the project.
As someone who grew up in the area it it heartbreaking to see so much land being built on.
The destruction of the local villages and surrounding countryside that the proposed development will have is massive and benefits only the developers. Unwanted , unnecessary and heartbreaking.
This is prime agricultural land and will impinge on the Blackdown Hills AOB protection zone. When we have climate crisis and a food crisis, why destroy biodiverse habitats and productive land. Has Somerset Council gone mad? We need to keep Somerset's rural businesses going and protect our AOBs... Highly unimpressive 'planning'...
I grew up in Taunton and I don’t want this beautiful part of Somerset spoilt by housing estates.
We need to save this AONB and our Blackdowns. This is outrageous!

A RIDICULOUS size development for a town that has already reached or surpassed saturation point. Devastating a beautiful landscape and agricultural productive land. No infrastructure, lack of reservoirs, and a motorway that cannot cope........it seems to be closed on a daily basis!
