Why This Matters

Mure Memorial Hospital, Nagpur, is more than a hospital. For over a century, it has been a Christian mission institution dedicated to serving the poor, the sick, and the wider community through compassionate healthcare. It stands as a living legacy of the missionaries, doctors, nurses, donors, church members and community supporters who built and sustained this ministry. 

Today, we are deeply concerned by reports that Mure Memorial Hospital and its associated properties may be handed over to a non-Christian organization. Such a decision could fundamentally alter the character, mission and heritage of an institution established as a Christian ministry.

Many members of the Christian community believe that this proposal has not been accompanied by sufficient transparency regarding the decision-making process, the terms of the proposed arrangement, or whether all legal, trust-related and ecclesiastical requirements have been fully satisfied. 

If there have been management failures in recent years, those failures should be investigated and addressed. The inability of particular administrators to run the hospital successfully should not automatically result in the permanent loss of a historic Christian institution. Before any handover is approved, every possible option for reviving and strengthening the hospital under responsible Christian stewardship should be explored.

Our Demands

1. Immediately halt any proposed handover, transfer, lease or management arrangement until a transparent review is completed.
2. Publicly disclose all relevant agreements, resolutions, approvals and Memoranda of Understanding related to the proposal.
3. Examine all viable alternatives for reviving and sustaining the hospital under Christian management.
4. Conduct an independent review into the circumstances that led to the hospital's present condition.
5. Confirm that all legal, trust, charitable and ecclesiastical requirements have been fully complied with.
6. Preserve and protect the Christian identity, mission and heritage of Mure Memorial Hospital for future generations.
