We, the undersigned registered voters and property owners of Grant County, West Virginia, who live in or are affected by development in Dorcas and the surrounding rural areas, respectfully petition the Grant County Commission to adopt industrial setback rules for Grant County and to protect our homes, local roads, and trout streams from unchecked heavy industrial expansion.
Our community values the quiet rural character of this county, the safety of our roads, and the clean water that supports local life and the trout streams we depend on and cherish. Heavy industrial development placed too close to homes, waterways, and narrow country roads can bring noise, dust, traffic, drainage problems, and damage to the peaceful way of life that families here have built over generations.
We are not asking Grant County to stop responsible growth. We are asking for common-sense setback rules that give residents a fair buffer from industrial uses and help prevent harm before it starts. Clear rules can protect private property, reduce conflict, and make sure any future development is planned with care, not rushed at the expense of the people who already live here.
We urge the Grant County Commission to act now and establish strong industrial setback protections for Dorcas and the surrounding rural areas of Grant County, West Virginia, so our homes, roads, and streams are not put at risk by unchecked heavy industrial expansion.
I have lived beside this property for almost 30 years. I love the peace and tranquility the land has to offer. The wildlife and views are amazing. A power plant would ruin it all. The noise, the lights, the traffic and the pollution to the ground and air would devastate this small peaceful area.
