We, the undersigned residents and supporters of the Lüderitz community, call for child safety and justice in Lüderitz and urge the authorities to keep the accused in custody while this matter is dealt with properly. Following the recent alleged attempted abduction of a child in Area 7, Lüderitz, our community is deeply concerned about the safety of our children and the need for a thorough, fair process under the laws of Namibia.
We strongly oppose the granting of bail in this matter. Our concern is based on the seriousness of the alleged offence involving a child, the risk to children and the wider community if the accused is released, and the fear and distress already felt across Lüderitz. Families should be able to let their children move about without living in constant worry.
We also remember with deep pain the child Mandela, who went missing in the same Area 7 in Lüderitz and whose whereabouts remain unknown. That unresolved loss has left a lasting wound in the community, and the recent incident has only increased our fear and anxiety. This is why we believe the court must treat this matter with the greatest seriousness.
We call for a full and impartial investigation into the incident, appropriate legal action if the accused is found guilty by the court, stronger measures to protect children in our communities, and increased public awareness and community policing initiatives to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
This petition is not meant to interfere with the judicial process or to presume guilt. It is a plea for justice, accountability, and the protection of every child in Lüderitz.
As a parent in Luderitz,I feel that there should be no bail granted to the suspect until his clear motive is known.
