16 Brook Lane is currently being reviewed for a HMO licence, to turn it into a 6 bedroom house share.

We have the opportunity to object this on the council's portal here:
https://planning.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=_GRNW_DCAPR_128817

The main points we have raised are:
- the lack of evidence demonstrating that adequate communal living accommodation would be provided for six unrelated occupants;
- the absence of a parking assessment despite the site's relatively limited public transport accessibility and lack of controlled parking restrictions;
- the likely impact of the intensified use on neighbouring residential amenity;
- the potential overlooking arising from the proposed rear dormer extension; and
- loss of the family character and community of the street and the cumulative effect it will bring alongside preexisting HMOs on the street and surrounding areas.

Thank you for your help.

These houses were not built for 6 occupants and to turn what could be a lovely family home adds nothing apart from more noise, waste, cars to the neighbourhood. Multiple occupancy are often short meaning there is no space for building community or relationships. This is clearly a way for a professional to make a huge amount of money by squeezing as many people as they can in a property that was never meant for that. The council should not agree to this license under any circumstances.

Same as my neighbours, I oppose changing the character of Brook Lane and potential for increased traffic, vehicles parking, wastage, bins, noise etc associated with HMO.

Main reasons why I object the proposed conversion into a 6-people HMO are: • Conflict with local housing policy promising affordable and much needed family accommodation. • Detrimental change to area character due to an influx of short-term lets, Airbnbs and unmanaged HMO properties. • Changing a single-family dwelling into a property housing six unrelated individual adults will have a clear impact on residential amenity (noise and disturbance) • Strain on parking, traffic, and infrastructure

These houses are not designed for 6 individual adults, they are for familiy units and changing this to an HMO takes this out of housing stock for such people. This also causes implications around waste, parking and anti social behaviour.

It will spoil the neighbourhood which is composed of mainly families and is balanced and respectful. A house full of six individual tenants is a disaster waiting to happen: if there is friction and problems within it is bound to spill out and that will be the end of the peaceful neighborhood. It will be fear and anxiety.
