We respectfully ask the Keystone Heights Airport Authority to deny any application or permission for Fly Keystone, or any other business entity or individual, to lease waterfront property owned by the Keystone Heights Airport Authority or the City of Keystone Heights, Florida, for establishing a seaplane base or ramp on Crystal Lake in Clay and Bradford counties, Florida.
Crystal Lake is a small private lake, and many of us who live at Crystal Lake, Crystal Lake Homesites, or have access to the lake value it for its quiet, private character. Turning it into a place for public seaplane activity would change the lake in a major way. It would bring more traffic, more noise, more wake, and more disruption to the water and shoreline. It would also create added safety concerns for people who use the lake and for nearby residents who expect a peaceful place to live.
A seaplane base on Crystal Lake would not fit the kind of community we have built here. Our quality of life depends on keeping the lake safe, calm, and private. Once this kind of activity is allowed, it is hard to take back the harm it brings.
We ask the Keystone Heights Airport Authority to protect Crystal Lake and deny any lease, permission, or approval for a seaplane base or ramp on the lake. Please keep Crystal Lake as it is: a small private lake for the people who live with and care for it.
The lake will be to small and compact which will then be dangerous to family’s who ski and tube on the lake and boat traffic as a whole
