With this petition, we urge the Vancouver City Council to adopt an ordinance that makes rental pricing transparent, protects renters, and promotes housing stability.
Renters should know the true cost of a home before they apply or sign a lease—not discover mandatory fees after they have already committed. This is especially important for young people and first-time renters navigating the rental process on their own.
We are asking Vancouver to require clear, upfront “all-in” rental pricing and adopt a permitted-fees-only model: landlords may charge only specifically authorized fees, with reasonable limits on legitimate charges. Fees such as pet rent, administrative fees, package fees, technology fees, lease-signing or renewal fees, valet garbage fees, and other rental “junk fees” should not be added on top of advertised rent.
Seattle recently adopted similar protections through Council Bill 121254, requiring greater upfront disclosure and prohibiting rental fees that are not specifically permitted. Vancouver renters deserve the same transparency.

Im sick of management telling me I cannot have a weed, artifical flowers, and the many other things they threaten us with. I own $200k home and rent the dirt O just be happy in my beautiful home not stressed.
This will protect many renters who aren't aware of the junk fees.

Stability should be guaranteed in the USA! We work too hard and follow the rules, we shouldn’t end up homeless because of greed. Contributing members of society need hope to move forward in life, when their lifeline is taken what happens next!??
