We are asking Denver to turn Mile High Stadium and its surrounding parking lots into Mile High Park once the Broncos move.
This is a chance to make sure this important piece of land stays public and becomes a place for people, not just another site for more concrete.
So many people in our city carry memories from this footprint — the Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets, and Avs, a life changing concert, Barack Obama's acceptance speech, and more, along with the eras of McNichols Arena and the two Mile High Stadiums. Families, kids, and neighbors should be able to play sports, walk, rest, and enjoy the outdoors in a place that already means so much to Denver. A park here would honor those memories while giving the community something lasting and useful for the future.
Denver is already growing fast, with new development coming at River Mile next to Ball Arena, Burnham Yard, Santa Fe Yards, 16th St redevelopment, RiNo continuing to expand, and more. We welcome thoughtful growth, but we also need more open space for people to enjoy. According to the Denver Park Trust, Denver is projected to have a 3,800 park land deficit over the next decade, and the neighborhood where Empower Field at Mile High Stadium sits, Sun Valley, has some of the worst open space deficits in the city.
Mile High Park can also help elevate the historic and cultural contributions of Indigenous and Hispanic/Latino people to the South Platte River corridor. Like what has been suggested at Burnham Yards, this park could also become “a living, breathing memorial to the people who were here first.”
We urge decision-makers to plan now for Mile High Park and keep this land public, green, and rooted in community.

I live 3 blocks from the stadium. This area is already very dense and more and more high rises are built here while very little is developed for the people to enjoy. It is not very walkable or enjoyable. A new park with many amenities in a part of the city that has none would be a great asset not just to the residents surrounding it but to the whole of Denver. Green space is in dire need in this part of Denver as well - very few trees compared to many parts of the city!
We can not handle more population in this neighborhood. A park such a as this would be perfect. No more residential, please!
I live on 23rd and Federal and given the urban density of our neighborhood, including children and dogs, we're prime for more third spaces by way of parks and green space.
We need this for the community! It would open a large area for dogs and people of all ages. We need make being outdoors fun and free again!
As heat levels start to rise and more concrete takes up space, it will be extremely unbearable for people to exist let alone want to go out and spend money, visit Denver's museums, cultural centers, tourist spots, restaurants, shops and so forth.
Petition to turn old broncos stadium into a park!
This is a fantastic idea. Living in Jefferson Park, you're surrounded by BIG arterial roads and highways. I-25, Federal, Speer, Colfax. Walking in any direction you are met with car-dominated, paved landscapes that are hot and dusty. My family and I would walk a loop or two around the stadium almost every day. It was the one place in the neighborhood where you could come in contact with public art, fitness equipment, open space and neighbors. A PARK IS A NATURAL FIT! I could write a book....

This is a fantastic idea and one I hope will be seen to fruition. That area is legendary. It's already sad the stadium won't be there anymore as drivers go round that bend. I for one love seeing it. Making it a beautiful multi use park would be great!
