Levity Live is more than a comedy club. It is a rare kind of space where people from all walks of life come together under one roof to laugh, celebrate, and connect. It is where first dates turn into lasting memories, where friends gather after long weeks of work, and where strangers end up laughing side by side. It has recently been announced that the venue will close its doors on August 17 due to a lease-related issue. If that happens, Oxnard will lose far more than an entertainment venue—it will lose a place that helps define the rhythm and spirit of our community.
Places like Levity Live are where neighbors become friends, families create lasting memories, and visitors get a true sense of what makes Oxnard special. They are also vital to our local economy. They support dozens of jobs, from the front-of-house staff who greet guests with a smile, to the servers, bartenders, technicians, security teams, and behind-the-scenes crews who work tirelessly to make every show possible. These are real people whose livelihoods depend on this space staying open. Beyond employment, venues like this help keep surrounding businesses alive, bringing foot traffic to nearby restaurants, shops, and hotels, and strengthening the local economy in ways that are often unseen but deeply felt.
For years, Levity Live has brought nationally recognized comedians, rising talent, and unforgettable performances to Oxnard. It has been a place where laughter fills the room night after night, where people come to escape stress, celebrate milestones, and simply feel connected again. It has hosted countless shows that have left audiences with stories they carry long after the night ends. Losing it would leave a cultural and emotional void that cannot easily be replaced, and it would take away one of the few dedicated comedy venues in our region.
We believe Oxnard deserves vibrant, welcoming spaces where people can come together. We believe the workers whose livelihoods depend on Levity Live deserve stability and support. Having a comedy venue nearby has enabled us to experience standup regularly. We have never experienced that our entire lives. It's truly special! The thought of not having that is so sad.
This venue brings our community from all walks of life together during a time when we need to let loose and find humor in something. Keep comedy close to home.

This is such an amazing venue ! I’ve lived in riverpark for then 16 years and closing this venue down would drastically and dramatically change the entire collection community! This is a fantastic place where the community can come together and enjoy each other‘s company as well as network and collaborate ideas all within itself.
