Burnout among medical students is at an all-time high and roughly double that of same-age peers in different fields. One of the biggest causes of this is the immediate continuation of classes following days with exams. As you go through Ross’s curriculum, it makes sense that there is less break time between mini seasons, but in Semester 1 there is already so much adaptation to do. I remember waking up after the exam realizing that in addition to getting adjusted to the island and the rigor of medical school, I also had to jump straight in to the next season of exams. I believe a small break- just the morning after exam days- is a great way to manage these high stress levels and increase confidence for people in semester 1 who are just starting their medical school journey. Sign this petition here, and I will bring it up to some higher-ups at Ross during a scheduled meeting where I can hopefully put this idea into action. Thank you all. And Good Luck.
