As a B.Tech student at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, I find myself grappling with an overwhelming examination schedule that stifles creativity and hinders holistic education.Currently, GGSIPU mandates two mid semester exams for each subject, in addition to end semester exams and numerous practical assessments. This translates to a staggering number of exams - approximately 12 mid-sems for 6 theory subjects, not to mention the end semester exams, which in total adds upto 18 of just theory exams each semester. Then there practical exams, assignments, and presentations. Such an intense schedule leaves little room for exploring personal interests, engaging in extracurricular activities, or fostering innovative thinking.

The current system puts undue stress on students, who are forced to focus predominantly on rote learning and examination preparation, rather than developing a deeper understanding of the material. There is a profound need for reform in the examination structure to allow students to think out of the box and engage in projects that ignite their passions and creativity.

A feasible solution would be to consolidate the two mid exams into one, thereby halving the burden of examinations. This policy change could serve as a catalyst for a more balanced educational experience, where students have the time and flexibility to pursue innovative projects, participate in extracurricular activities, and engage in creative thinking.

Several studies have indicated that less frequent high-stakes testing enhances students’ ability to retain information and fosters an environment conducive to learning. In addition, reducing the burden of exams can improve mental health by alleviating stress and anxiety commonly associated with academic overload.

I urge the authorities of the esteemed IP University to revisit and revise the current examination policies to better align with the needs and well-being of their students. By signing this petition, you are supporting a shift towards a more balanced and enriching academic journey for B.Tech students at IPU and affiliated colleges. Join us in calling for change and sign this petition today.

Teachers can't even complete the syllabus and the quality of content is not good enough so that we can prepare for the exam There is literally no reason to conduct this number of exams

Semester starts, we study for a month and then it’s just exams after exams. With 2 mid-sems the pressure is too much, leaving no time for real-world learning or trying something of our own.

1 mid sem is perfect . Forces you to study half the syllabus .2nd mid sem is just useless and makes no sense when u already have to study other half for end sem . Plus it makes a sem way too congested ,creates too much hurdles for developing relevant skills .

Students feel trapped in a "pressure cooker" environment, where their worth is measured solely by test scores rather than their overall development.

The number of mid sems should decrease and should only be one as the students dont get any time to prepare for the exams .
