COMPLAINT REGARDING MISCONDUCT AND HARASSMENT BY A TEACHER

We, the undersigned students of Patha Bhavan, Class 12, submit this complaint seeking a fair and impartial inquiry into the conduct of Anirban Bhattacharya, History teacher, in relation to alleged misconduct, harassment, and inappropriate communication with students and parents.
Students have reported and experienced communication that felt abusive, insulting, and humiliating. This has caused distress and has made some students feel uncomfortable and intimidated in the school environment. A teacher should be someone students can approach with respect and confidence, not fear.
We are also concerned about alleged inappropriate communication with parents through WhatsApp, including messages that appeared to go beyond normal professional boundaries expected between a teacher and a student’s parent. In particular, there are allegations of personal and flirtatious communication with a student’s mother. If established, this would be deeply improper and not acceptable in a school setting.
There are further concerns that students and parents may have felt pressure in connection with the teacher’s resignation or continuation in service. We request that these circumstances be examined carefully, without any further pressure or harassment being placed on those involved.
We respectfully request the school authorities to conduct a fair and impartial inquiry, speak privately with affected students and parents without intimidation or retaliation, review relevant WhatsApp messages and other available evidence with consent, investigate any abusive or humiliating language used towards students, examine whether inappropriate personal communication took place with parents, and ensure that no student or parent faces retaliation, intimidation, or academic disadvantage for coming forward.
We ask that appropriate disciplinary or administrative action be taken if the allegations are substantiated, and that all students be assured of a safe, respectful, and professional learning environment.
