We ask Ashhill academy (Delta trust) to introduce a summer uniform for all students so they can stay comfortable and ready to learn during the warmer months.

The weather is getting warmer, and climate change is making our climate hotter year by year. In these conditions, the current uniform is no longer suitable for everyday wear in the hotter months. Students are expected to wear a blazer, shirt and tie, along with either trousers or a skirt and opaque tights. That is too heavy and uncomfortable when the temperature rises.

When students are too warm, it is harder for them to focus, settle, and take part properly in school life. A uniform should help students feel included and ready to learn, not make the school day harder. A summer uniform would be a practical and simple change that shows care for students’ comfort and wellbeing.

We believe Ashhill academy (Delta trust) should act now and introduce a lighter summer uniform for all students. This would be a sensible response to a hotter climate and a fairer choice for everyone. Students need to be cooler, and they need a uniform that reflects the weather they are learning in.

I believe a summer uniform is important in this day an age as with climate change it is only going to get hotter and students can't be expected to concentrate in this heat

I support this petition, summer uniform would help students stay comfortable and focused during hots weather. My younger sister often comes home complaining about how uncomfortable she feels in class because she has to wear the normal uniform ( blazer and tie). A summer uniform would be a good idea and it would make a big difference to student’s wellbeing

I first hand struggled with the uniform during summer and the only year that school changed anything was year 8 and this was when we was allowed to come into school for two days in PE kit, but now school will just tell you that your allowed to take your blazer off but it has to be carried in your arms and visible at all times otherwise you have to keep it on.

My son is yr 9 and every year suffers with really bad head aches when it’s hot and is made to wear full uniform, then the school expects the pupils to still perform to there best ability! They should lead by example and wear the same if they expect the students to dress in full uniform

Blazers and tights are not practical in 30 degree heat when our children come home feeling sick because they have to be in full uniform

Ash hill school think it’s appropriate to wear trousers and school shirt with top button undone in over 30 degree heat. Heat stroke can kill. They will not allow students to go in p.e kits

The staff are ok to sir with a fan and in summer clothes whilst our children (most vunerable than a adult) are forced to sit in full uniform, (BLACK) trousers that attract heat. We all know summers are getting hotter in the uk and heatwaves are becoming more and more frequent. We just are not equipped for this. The pe kit still has the school logo on therefore what is the big deal in trying to keep children cool. It is not acceptable to send them home for wearing a school issued pe kit.
