We ask that Oakfield children be permitted to arrive at school wearing their official PE kit for the whole day on their scheduled physical education days.
This small change would make a real difference. Young children often find buttons, laces, tights, and other clothing changes slow and difficult, and valuable lesson time can be lost before PE even begins. If children come to school already dressed for the day, they can make the most of their PE lesson time and settle into learning more quickly.
It would also help reduce lost property. Changing at school often means jumpers, cardigans, socks, and shoes go missing. That creates unnecessary upset for children and puts extra pressure on families who then have to replace items.
Allowing children to stay in their PE kit would also improve comfort and engagement. Activewear is practical for movement, keeps children ready for play at break times, and removes the awkwardness of changing in shared classroom spaces. It would help children feel more relaxed, more positive, and more willing to take part in physical activity.
We believe this is a sensible, simple improvement that supports learning, reduces stress for families, and makes PE days easier for everyone at Oakfield.
My child is SEN and struggles with dressing, she also doesn’t have the awareness that she needs to cover up, so my concern is that she is walking around undressed & exposed in front of her peers
