Ms.Chen is a teacher who's helped me so much mentally and academically. It physically breaks my heart to see that the school is even considering this knowing well that Chinese is being learned more than French. Thought I am leaving YWLA next school year, it hurts thinking about how this is affecting Ms.Chen and her students. With this class at YWLA, it gives us oppurtinuties to actually use what we've been taught. We have chances to go on trips and after high school we have the choice to go overseas for a fair price to continue using the language. Ms.Chen pushes us to do the best we can in class. Ms.Chen is the teacher who always brings a smile to my face even on my worst days. We all have those bonds and close relationships with her and it just is heart breaking to see that the school isn't considering this one bit. I love Ms.Chen so much and this hurts me to see this happening. Please get as many people as you can to sign this petition so we can continue having Ms.Chen at YWLA.

Ms. Chen is the sweetest. Not many FWISD school's have the Chinese course so that makes YWLA special. I hope they rethink this decision.

I forgot to comment earlier, so I’m here now. I’m currently a sophomore in Ms. Chen’s AP chinese class. 陳老師 bring so much to our school beyond Chinese- including the accounting and debating teams (I am in LD debate, where she’s helped us to learn how to speak publicly, think critically, and write argumentatively, which resulted in a medal we brought home in our first year), a k pop dance group, and the asian drama club, which spread asian culture to kids who would likely not have experienced anything of the like otherwise. I think it’s crucial to have her program here to spread such rich cultures, especially as we live in TX and are unlikely to learn about it otherwise. Additionally, Chinese is more useful than French in the professional world. Ms. Chen also gives us as many opportunities as possible, such as taking us on international trips, providing study abroad programs, and supporting us as much as possible in our academic career. She takes time out of her day to ensure that we understand the content and can practice effectively. Simply does not compare to any other teacher, and to let her leave would be taking away one of the most special parts of Y WLA. 我愛你 ❤️ (sry for the essay)

Foreign language is vital to our education and society as a whole. We need to broaden our horizons outside our own communities. And language is the key

MS Chen is the only teacher that has ever actually sat down and helped me understand the material. Ms Chen had faith in me when i didn't have faith in myself. To have ms Chen sit down with me and help me study is super special to me, she helps me believe in myself and work hard. Even if we could take Chinese online it wouldn't be the same, ms Chen has a big impact on us. Taking her away is not only disrespecting her but it's disrespecting the students hard work and dedication to the language. Her class is one of the main reasons why I wanted to come here. I'm starting to reconsider the motives of this school.

Ms Chen always supports students no matter what language class you take. Her contribution to school life has always been an admirable connection to my YWLA years
