The Yorkville Boundaries Committee will be presenting their findings to the School Board on April 13th. This petition is to show parent support for withholding from a vote for Option 1 (K Buildings) or Option 2 (K-1 Buildings) until further review and options are explored that include the movement and needs of 6th grade students and beyond. Growth of the Yorkville population is not an imminent problem in the next 1-2 years, which provides us the time to make a thoughtful, comprehensive decision for the entire district. It would be a mistake to move our youngest children, busing them up to 40-60 minutes each way a day, to a new school and asking them to transition during the times they crave stability. If you too would like the district to look for a more comprehensive plan, to have more answers for parents, and to not move our youngest students far away from their homes please sign this petition as a sign of support. It will be shared with the Yorkville School Board on April 13th. You can find the Committee's Presentation at https://prezi.com/s8vbg0ya-ei0/yorkville-cusd-115-community-presentation-3-17-15

Thank you!

I am honestly stunned that one hundred people have signed this because I started it just to share my own concerns. You all have turned a small idea into something that the school board will actually have to notice. This belongs to the rest of you much more than it belongs to me.

My daughter, Casey, Yorkville class of 2014, attended YGS, YIS, GRES, BBES, YMS and YHS, due to the last boundary change mess. Changing schools so frequently had an adverse affect on her schooling and social life.

I bought my house in Autumn Creek because it has a school in the subdivision so my kids didn't need to travel far to go to school. I think older children can adapt to changing schools better than four and five year olds. I think that the committee is not looking at what is best the children, but how to save a buck.

I have seen the negative effects of changing schools when one of my triplets in need of an inclusion setting was moved from her friends and siblings. the long bus ride and isolation resulted in many nights of tears and stress that she never should have gone through. I'll be at the meeting.

One of the reasons we moved into the bristol bay subdivision was because our children would be within walking distance to their elementary school. I do not want my children bussed to an alternate school when we can see Bristol Bay Elementary from our front yard. What a wasted expense on bussing.

I am not sure many adults know the language and bahavior that is taking place on the bus as it is now. forcing young children out of their home school forces them to be exposed to such behavior. i believe another option can be put in place to accomodate pre k and K instead of moving ALL established students now.

I know I am not comfortable with my daughter being on a bus for 40-60 minutes when we are five minutes away from Yorkville Grade school! She will be starting kindergarten in 2016 and hearing the options being considering has seriously had me wanting to look into private schools!
