This petition is for those who are against the renaming of parts of clyde north and clyde to "casey fields"

One of the great freedoms we have is to choose where we live, to make a home in a suburb that we love. When we purchase or rent a home, a lot of thought goes not only into the type of house we want, or even how many bedrooms we need, but also into where that home is. Whilst seemingly unimportant, the name of a suburb carries with it a history and a meaning, good or bad, this history is unchangeable.

When residents of Clyde and clyde north they chose to live there, and pay a premium price to live there. They decided that they did not want to live in Cranbourne, due to some of the negative associations Cranbourne has.

Now, in having our beloved Clyde & Clyde North renamed to Casey Fields we are having that decision taken away from us. we are being told that the money we paid, and the time we put into our decision is irrelavant. The decision to change our suburb to "Casey Fields" is akin to renaming Melbourne or Docklands to "Etihad Stadium", it would not be acceptable in Melbourne and it will not be accepted here.

We would like for the decision to be thrown out, or changed to create a name that has better associations that will truly represent the community her in Clyde.

I encourage every resident who is against this change to sign this petition urgently, as we only have until 13th of December 2013 to make a submission against the change. If we are quiet we will be walked all over, you must say something! If you can, you may also write to the council at the below address:

Reaching this point has been draining but your response shows that the community feels this loss as deeply as I do. We are exhausted by this fight yet the momentum proves we are not fighting alone.

We looked for years to buy land in either Berwick or Clyde, once Berwick got out of our price range we were relieved to find a decent place in Clyde. Not once did we consider cranbourne as an option. Ever.

I agree and you cant tell me the developers didn't know about the pending name change. They have kept this quiet to get a premium for their land not to be associated with Cranbourne......deceitful

I agree. We paid a premium to live in Clyde North and not be assosiated with Cranbourne. The name Casey Fields is a sporting ground in Cranbourne NOT a suburb name we want. It is not fair that people in Cranbourne East are getting to have their propertys valued the same as ours because we will all be one suburb. I HATE THE NAME CASEY FIELDS

Naming a suburb after an already established sports field is confusing and just a little odd really.
